This year we decided to go to Gas Works Park to celebrate the 4th of July. The plan was to arrive at 3pm to picnic and wait for the fireworks to start. It seemed like a good idea until we realized that hundreds of people decided to come to the park early in the afternoon too. It took us more than 30 minutes just to get into the park. The security at the entrance was checking every bag for dangerous items and alcohol. They confiscated my bowl of rice salad just because it was made with glass.
Once inside the park we realized that it was already full of people. It was 6 hours before the fireworks, and it was already difficult to find a spot. Anyway, we succeed to find a good spot with a view of the city skyline.
Just before the fireworks started we could see the moon coming from behind Capitol Hill. It was just beautiful! Then the show started, I really enjoyed it! It was an amazing firework display!
